I did this sketch after finishing the work that I had planned for the day. I’m trying to get better at painting more simple pieces that nonetheless convey the atmosphere of a scene I want to show.
This was painted based on some random photo reference of a Japanese house I found somewhere on the internet (probably on Pinterest) while looking at some Hayao Miyazaki sketches for style reference.
After sketching with pencils and painting with Mijello watercolors I decided that the picture was a bit too “flat” so I added some lines and black shadows with a brush pen.
Tools:
* paper: Moleskine ART plus sketchbook
* pencil: Mitsu-Bishi 9862 B
* watercolors: Mijello Mission Gold single pigment set
* lines: Kuretake black brush pen
